Review of Green Lantern: First Flight (2009) by William R — 29 Nov 2009
GL:FF is phenomenal. Hal Jordan and his comic book companions could not have asked for a better introductory video. I loved everything about this movie. The humor, the animation, the story adaptation, and the voice acting are all superb.
As happens frequently in a well-written conflict story, the villain can outshine the hero; so it is here with Sinestro. At times he almost makes Jordan seem like a secondary character. First Flight is as much about his downfall as it is about Jordan's ascendancy.
The remaining cast of characters was well fleshed-out. I have to admit I was very disappointed to see Tomar Re killed. But to be honest, I can live with it with the rest of the film being as good as it is.
When it is released, the live-action version can only hope to -- at best -- equal this masterpiece.
