You are a general without an army in a war you cannot win.
Hal Jordan is an air force pilot who is given a large responsibility by a dying alien. The alien gives Hal Jordan a ring that turns him into a super hero and part of the Green Lantern Corps. Shortly after joining the Green Lantern Corps, one of their strongest members turns against the corps and Hal. Initially, it is hard to tell which members of the corps are loyal and which will defect with the traitor. Hal will need to master his skills to save the corps.

Lauren Montgomery, director of Superman/Doomsday, Wonder Woman (2009), and episodes of Legion of Superheroes, delivers Green Lantern: First Flight. The storyline for this picture is entertaining and worth following but nothing overly exciting. The animation is solid and on par with other comic book animated pictures and the voiceovers were well selected. The voices were provided by Michael Madsen, John Larroquette, Christopher Meloni (Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay), Victor Garber (Milk and Titanic), and Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica).

I am a huge DC comics fan and have always enjoyed their Justice League series. Green Lantern was a key founder of the Justice League and one of their most influential members. He has never really fascinated me and his storyline has always been a bit bland. Nevertheless, this film, while being worth watching, is not as good as the recent Wonder Woman picture released by DC. There were some nice features on the DVD that included old JLA Unlimited episodes and previews of the upcoming Batman/Superman: Public Enemies movie. I recommend seeing, but not purchasing, this picture. This would barely crack my top 10 recently released animated comic book movies (see below). I still have not watched the recent Watchmen: Black Freighter Cartoon (coming soon).
