Review of Green Lantern: First Flight (2009) by Ka M — 13 Mar 2010
I enjoy all of these adaptations, so it's hard to be critical, but this joins Invincible Iron Man at the poor end of the genre. I'm a Marvel fan but do enjoy the occasional DC romp.
Green Lantern is an odd character that has enough about it to maintain a serious fan base - this movie is clearly about raising his profile prior to the real life version.
Green Lantern is basically the Fantastic Four's Invisible Woman, but with a lot more limitations. The character survives on strong storylines and other interesting villians and heroes - he doesn't carry the whole vehicle as well as DC's other big hitters. This film has a weak story, and the real life version will bomb if they don't get that part right. This was a competent outing, but I just didn't care enough for the good guys or their quest.
