Review of Green Lantern: Emerald Knights (2011) by Ted R — 02 Jul 2011
I didn't expect much from this animated GL film since the last animated film was not that great and the movie fell short, but I was really surprised at how great a film this really was. Told in segments on GL Corps characters that are usually not highlighted, this film explores the history of GL Cops and many of the characters minor and major.
These short stories are part a larger plot that is interesting in itself, but still similar to the previous GL animated film and movie. Nevertheless, the films short stories are interesting and amazing.
Especially, the telling of the friendship and prophecy of Sinestro and Abin Sur. With Abin Sur believing in destiny and Sinestro's belief in just coincidence. Abin Sur being more a "believer" and Sinestro more the atheist which is an interesting dynamic and something I had neither heard about before nor do I know if it has been followed in the comic.
But all in all very interesting and fascinating way of telling this story. GL the movie could have learned a lot from watching this animated film and maybe incorporating more into the live action film.
