Review of Green Lantern (2011) by Valentin A — 06 Apr 2014
I'm deeply disappointed in the ensemble of exceptional people who created this atrocious Green Lantern. Ryan Reynolds destroyed Deadpool (already a pseudo-superhero) in Wolverine Origins, and now he assassinated one of the best and most fascinating DC Comics superheroes, the Hal Jordan Green Lantern.
This film may have achieved its visual goals, but its good actors did a disappointing job feeding one of the most prepostrous screenplays in the history of superhero films. No loose ends were tied together, no character was properly psychologically developped, the plot was schweizer-full-of-holes and the villain-overpopulated story wanted to become much less than it ended up to be.
If you are a DC fan, do NOT watch this film, otherwise one of your favourite comic book superheroes will be partially humiliated in front of your eyes. I won't even mention the childish direction of Martin Campbell, who otherwise is a pretty good filmmaker (Casino Royale).
I guess he is a poor choice for this kind of film.
