Review of Green Lantern (2011) by Jeffrey N — 01 Oct 2014
When I first saw this, I thought it was all right nothing special. But when I saw it again, it actually turn to a bit of a negative. Ryan Reynolds is a wrong choice to play as Green Lantern, but he was still great in it and actually has some funny moments.
The acting is decent, even though I don't even know what Peter Sarsgaard was thinking that it was good acting that he was doing. But to be fair, he did had some unintentional hilarity moments too, despite that character being a little pointless.
The movie is every other superhero film I seen, which I got a little bored. There was a bit of mythology which was very interesting, but there's barely any of it and it was too busy on the effects which are good, but there's too many CGI that it was just style over substance.
There's even some stuff that could've not be CGI, like Green Lantern's suit, that should've been just a costume. If it wants to be CG, that's fine, but don't do too much of it or it'll just feel lazy.
There was even a CG car spinning around, I mean come on! That should've been a real car, not a computer one. With all of that, it is the acting that is the best, but it wasn't enough to save it from being a dull superhero film.
I wasn't mad at it, just disappointed.
