A shitty movie that I want to love. Ryan Reynolds is great as Hal Jordan, but he is failed by a derivative script, cliches, occasionally terrible special effects, and editing that leaps angle to angle in quick succession so that it is sometimes unclear what is actually going on. Space has never felt so small, and the scenes on Earth tend to be underwhelming.

Poor Reynolds. None of Hannibal King, Deadpool, or Green Lantern really worked out for him, even though he has charisma to spare. If only the right character, script, and director would come along...
