Review of Green for Danger (1946) by Ken S — 22 Aug 2008
This film is a wonderful, if what we now think of as stereotypically English, mystery. Alastair Sim was entrancing in his incredibly naturalistic performance as Inspector Cockrill. His performance would not have seemed out of place today.
He must have been a phenom at the time! The script was very tight and had some of the same qualities of "The Lady Vanishes". An unusual aspect to the film is the intermittent bombing present throughout and the affect the sound had on the characters.
I imagine the entire country must have been shell shocked by the time the war ended! For an excellent mystery, this is definitely recommended.
