Review of Greater (2016) by Adam K — 27 Aug 2016
While similar films often suffer from poor writing and weak performances, "Greater" delivers a compelling story line that draws you in. Even better, the script steers clear of cheesy dialogue (except when intentions for comic relief), unlike some other "good message" movies out there lately.
I wouldn't put it in the "faith-based" or "Christian" film categories; it's simply the true-life story of an inspirational young man who happened to be a Christian. The faith-based overtones are present in the movie, but only because the story of how the main character lived his life requires them.
It's definitely not "preachy" as one person suggested. A surprising number of seasoned actors appear in the film and deliver exceptional performances with goose-bump-inducing inspiration.
This is an emotional film for sure. Take the family to see it. It will generate some great conversation, and you'll leave with a better understanding of the true life story of a great young man.
