Review of Great Expectations (1998) by Alysia V — 06 Jul 2009
There are certainly some very talented actors in this between DeNiro and Paltrow and Hawke and they all very much pulled through with their performances. I continually feel sorry for "Finne" and the way Estella toys with his emotions, but in a way his undying devotion to her is endearing and makes this an interesting love story.
I love that he showed kidness to "Lustig" and then, in return, receives more than he could ever imagine. There are a lot of unique bonds and relationships in this film and I think it's just a beautiful adaptation of a classic Dickens tale.
