Loaded with killer musical numbers and aesthetically pleasing individuals, Grease unfortunately alienates its potential in favour of thoroughly unlikable characters, humdrum acting (aside from Olivia Newton-John's literal "peaked in high-school" performance) and satisfaction with exclusively superficial entertainment, whether or not it was aiming for more.
