Gripping, emotionally draining and fiercely intense. Love Alfonso to death. One omy favorite directors. He knocks yet another beautifully shot and rivetingly told story out of the park. Very good straight forward linear tale.
The camera work and the absence of cuts for the first entire 19 minute opening shot is sesational and a signature marquis staple of Cuaron's. Sandra Bullock does a convincing job making us believe the pearl she constantly fights through and the weight and guilt of the loss she suffers with.
