Review of Grave Encounters (2011) by Aaron T — 15 Oct 2012

I was surprised by how much I liked this film. One of the better found footage styled films out there. What separates the good from the trash in this genre is the suspense. Most films just start throwing tables left and right right off the bat, Grave Encounters kept a cool, level head throughout the characters decent into madness.

The acting I thought was above average for the genre and the camera placement was spotty, but overall effective. I started to lose them towards the end once the hauntings became somewhat ridiculous. but for what had happened, it had the best possible ending.

Bottom line, horror fans should check out this movie, but don't expect a Paranormal Activities clone, this film is much more innovative than that.
