Review of Grave Encounters (2011) by Jenn M — 16 Oct 2016
Grave Encounters is pretty good. It doesn't really bring much new to the table of found footage movies set in haunted asylum's, but it fun nonetheless. There is at least a reason to keep the cameras running.
The breakdown of the psyche of the characters was very well done, although one character goes a bit hard on his own stereotype to be believable.
The asylum itself is extremely creepy, and unnerving. As the movie goes on we realize the whole place is moving rooms and hallways around and is quite merciless in scaring the film crew.
The premise is good too with a ghost hunting show of people that go to supposedly haunted places, embellish heavily and overact to make it look like these places are really haunted (for ratings). Too bad they found a really haunted place.
