Review of Grave Encounters (2011) by Sinistervortex — 01 Sep 2012

Though I did not actually find this movie scary, I must commend it on its creativity. It is full of dark ideas that were integrated into the story beautifully. It may have taken quite a while to get off the ground, but once it did it kept me intrigued until the very end.

It does have its flaws: the characters are all annoying messes of personality that I just wanted to see become victims (and don't worry, they all do eventually), and the effects are overdone enough that the movie's attempt to seem "real" was not at all believable.

However, there is enough good (and by good, I really mean dark and twisted) stuff in this film that it is definitely worth watching, beyond a doubt.
