Review of Grandma's Boy (2006) by Simon H — 04 Oct 2013
I legitimately laughed once, the rest of the film I sat in awkward silence and I thought to myself... "This must be what annoying people watch for fun". Call me pedantic but I thought that making JP a punching bag character for everybody to rip on was incredibly offensive to anybody who's ever suffered from mental health issues.
This guy has voices in his head and that's supposed to be funny? That's supposed to be a joke? They go to a vegan restaurant and act like children because there's no meat (even though it's a vegan restaurant) and are completely unanimous in being assholes.
This was clearly written by an idiot, so obviously the idiot only gave the vegan waiter lines that fulfilled a tired cliche rather than lines that might reflect any sort of reality. Serious weak sauce here, I'd rather scratch my eyes out than watch this again.
And yes, the other reviews are right, this is a bad Adam Sandler movie without Adam Sandler.
