Review of Grandma (2015) by Virginia R — 24 Aug 2015
Lily Tomlin has been a consistent comic joy in my life: she was on Laugh In when I was a teen. I looked forward to re-visiting her puckish humor in this film, but was disappointed to see that the screenwriter gave her an ornery and potty-mouthed character.
I found Marcia Gay Harden funnier. Not Lily's fault: she is a wonder, left to her own devices. The movie did have its poignant moments. And I applaud the writer and director looking at the lives of women living on their own terms.
