Review of Grandma (2015) by Maggy S — 13 Sep 2015
In Grandma, Lily Tomlin is a full-on, no holdbacks woman of a certain age who shows us what it looks like to be fully human. Everything is there in her face: grief, joy, love behind a veneer of 'I-stopped-giving-a-f**k-before you were born' even she knows is not entirely true.
Julia Garner her granddaughter, Sage, is, even pregnant, the teenager you wish you had - smart and simultaneously knowing/unknowing. Marsha Gay Harden is the chili in the stew.
