Review of Grand Piano (2013) by Ian G — 09 Mar 2015
One of those B films that slip through the cracks to a festival or remainder bin near you, the Grand Piano takes the conceit of Joel Schumachers Phone booth while changing the venue and payoff to make it different enough, focusing on a anxiety ridden pianist played by Elijah Wood coming back to performing as a tribute to his mentor only to be set in a snipers sights who demands him to play the song he screwed up 5 years ago in panic for mysterious reasons.
A little campy and almost 80's in concept, makes for some hookie escapism but defies being taken seriously, especially once the goal of the sniper is revealed. Meh.
