I admit I watched this film just for Garbo. But then I couldn't stop. I personally thought John Barrymore managed to outshine all the other actors and actresses--and there are some huge names here.
There's a lovely little anecdote about Garbo not showing up at the premiere and it was announced she'd make an appearance after the showing... and Wallace Beery showed up in drag saying "I vant to be alone.
" I love early Hollywood.
