Review of Gran Torino (2008) by Nicholas B — 30 Dec 2012
It works, but then again there's really no reason why it shouldn't given the number of times this kind of film's been made. I love Clint, but his Director's turn has been overrated. He's competent, but that's about as far as I can go.
Clint's real skill is in having the knack for identifying story elements of 'human interest' that when combined, shamelessly, but not overtly, pull at the heart strings. Poor old David Stratton's a fool for love!
