Whoever knew that a film I originally didn't want to watch would become one of my all time favorite films. The thing that propels this film forward is the superior actor, Clint Eastwood who needs no introduction delivering another spectacular performance.

Aside from the film's acting, Gran Torino is written in order to grab your attention and never let it go. But why is the film so gripping? Why is it so good? At the center of it all, Gran Torino's messages are what truly define it as a controversial film.

Many tough topics collide in this movie including but not limited to gang warfare, racism, bullying, and peer pressure. These are just a few of the issues tackled in this thrilling drama. In the end however, Gran Torino not only manages to be emotional and provocative but also quite funny and light-hearted.

The best moments though come when all these elements equally balance out to deliver an exciting reality tale that portrays society in the most accurate and realistic fashion ever to hit the big screen/ All in all, Gran Torino's combination of serious messages (including morality, sacrifice, friendship, family, pride, and bravery) humorous dialogue (involving some clever one liners) tense action, and Oscar winning performances make this film essential to our generation.
