Review of Gracie (2007) by Brooklynn A — 10 Sep 2007
Loosely based on Elizabeth Shue's true story, who also acts in it, directed by her husband Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth), with her brother Andrew Shue (Melrose Place) in the cast, Gracie is the story of a young girl (Carly Schroeder), who has to face an harsh battle when she decides to fight for women rights.
She wants to play competitive soccer, but no one wants to let her do this. The biggest problem of Gracie is its slow build-up. Two-thirds of the movie are spent introducing the characters, showing what they do, and just the last half-hour is dedicated to the real subject of the whole flick.
Acting is good, as it's the general package. With a little more balance, the movie could have been really better.
