Review of Gracie (2007) by Kevin L — 26 May 2008

Occasionally threatens to break the mold of the underdog sports movie, as in a quite thrilling try-out sequence, but ultimately ends up feeling like a big budget Lifetime movie. The whole thing is not helped by a rather jarring plot turn at the end (how exactly is Gracie promoted from JV to Varsity and more importantly why?) that serves only to provide us with the requisite uplifting ending.

Only OK, but a pleasant enough diversion. It probably belongs in the upper echelons of soccer movies, but that's hardly a ringing endorsement!
