Review of Grace of My Heart (1996) by Patrick G — 03 Mar 2010
Story-wise, this was a solid attempt at a coming-of-age romance set in the music industry of the 50s and 60s. Illeana Douglas is absolutely cute and quirky in her leading role, with Davidson, Turturro and Dillon lending support. The music score by Burt Bacharach and Elvis Costello ranges from peppy to soul-deep and memorable.
The only drawback was that the film editing was so slipshod it got in the way of the story...and that's never good. It taught me that it takes a deft hand to make all aspects of movie-making work, including the stuff behind the scenes. Sadly, this was not one of them.
