Review of Grace Is Gone (2007) by Shaun B — 15 Jun 2008
This was an alright movie. Cusack is great and plays a little bit of a different character than he usually does BUT this film fails at being engaging. I admit that it is a very sad film and there are scenes that are just heartbreaking, but they are so glossed over, as if the director wanted us to hurry and move on with the story.
Some things I do like is how Cusack's character has a foil in his brother, and although they are complete opposites they still love each other, as most families really are. It also doesn't preach to us and force any kind of message down our throats.
It gives us a wonderful character who loves his country and is ashamed he cannot fight for it because of his eyes. But in the end that is all that it gives us.
