Review of Gozu (2003) by Stuart E — 27 Apr 2008
Miike goes Kafka by creating possibly the most bizarre yakuza movie ever imagined. Incredibly hallucinatory imagery mixes with dark humor and eerie stretches of silence, paranoia, and suspicion. I'm quite glad I'm finally finding Miike movies worth a damn that don't push the envelope merely for the sake of doing so (such as Visitor Q - blech).
