Its intentions are entirely unclear, but the results are spectacularly unsettling. Miike pulls influence from noire, yakuza gangster films, hentai, classical mythology, and Lynch into a sinister and disturbingly hilarious pastiche that is at times difficult to watch but wholly impossible to forget.
