Review of Gozu (2003) by Ayla T — 23 May 2008
When Miike does it right. Although not his best, this is a typical example of his mindfuck cinema.
It still has all the unhinged insanity of Visitor Q without becoming pointless and irrelevant.
It does not feel the need to bombard you with oddness but instead when it does appear it stays in your mind.
There are some truly memorable scenes that have been muttered in cult film circles. Which is more than Visitor Q would ever get. Do I sound bitter? :D.
