Review of Gozu (2003) by Trevor C — 24 Dec 2009
Yakuza member accidentally kills his crew chief (whom he was ordered to kill anyway), but then loses the body leaving him to wonder whether his yakuza brother is actually dead or not. A Miike movie which is rather weird because of its overall surrealism and also the underlying Buddhist mysticism (the title Gozu refers to a guardian demon in Buddhist hell), which left me wondering not only if anyone was dead, but whether anyone was alive.
