Review of Goya's Ghosts (2006) by Angela C — 01 May 2008
A surprisingly small film given its epic historic trappings. Goya (the man) is extraneous to the plot of this film, his presence is unnecessary and feels tacked-on. Portman is miscast, she never escapes the look of a pre-teen playing dress-up.
Only Bardem makes the enterprise worthwhile- if nothing else the film reveals him to be the most interesting actor working today.
