Review of Goya's Ghosts (2006) by Edith N — 06 Jan 2009
Even though this story is fictional in relation to Goya, it's involving and conveys the feeling of helplessness during the inquisition (as well during the honest depiction of Napoleon's campaign). It does get sidetracked at times, the plot may seem to wander, and at least once the character development takes an unlikely direction.
It does however manage to keep you engaged throughout, probably more interesting if you're into the period.
