Review of Gotti (2018) by Jesse D — 15 Jun 2018
This is a solid film. Sure, it has its issues. The soundtrack is all of over the place and the first act is more a series of scenes due to jumping from one time to another too often. Nonetheless, it moves emotion and is entertaining, which is the point when it comes to film.
The philosophical argument and commentary that the film makes on American society and its deeply flawed legal system demands cognitive dissonance, which can seem scary to the general moviegoer and easily be confused and rejected, resulting in the form of negative reviews.
