The critics, like most media today, are so laughingly predictable & dishonest. They fall all over themselves to approve a train wreck like Oceans 8 then take a hatchet to this film. The truth and the reality, meanwhile, are somewhere in the middle for both.

This film isnt on a Goodfellas or Godfather level obviously, and it does suffer from several structural flaws including being disjointed and trying to jam too much into too little time. Still, if you have knowledge of John Gotti going in.

..you dont mind it because anything long winded is redundant. This film wont win any awards and shouldnt. But that doesnt mean it wasnt entertaining, which, for some reason, critics dont seem to understand anymore unless there is some social cause at play.

Then they're all for it.
