Review of Gotti (2018) by James M — 07 Jul 2018
Horrible writing, horrible acting. This looks like the project of a film school drop-out. Not only have I never seen John Gotti, Sr. with the ridiculous scowling face, those that I know that actually knew him confirmed the fact that John never went around with a scowling face.
It's obvious that this was Travolta's way of "trying too hard" to look intimidating - he failed. The family was too eager to have a film made and it shows. However, instead of honoring John Gotti, Sr.
, they've made a mockery of him with this film. Additionally, I don't know who wrote this but this film doesn't have the "stones" that the late Steve Shagan and Robert Harmon gave to the 1996 film, starring Armand Assante.
In short, this film fails in every way possible. It's badly in need of being "whacked".
