One of the few things that terrorize me is being locked up in an asylum. If you react abnormal, you give them all the right reasons to put you there. If you act normal, it will be dismiss as faking. In any case, there is no way out. It is classic material for psychological thriller aka Shutter Island.

Gothika captures the curiosity with little clues dropped sporadically. Is it real? Is it hallucination? So far, so good. But once paranormal activity is brought in, the movie becomes ineffective. Logic is not a requisition in a ghost movie but at least there should be some reasoning in the events. So many questions pop up after the film closed: If the ghost is so strong, why she needs Halle Berry to do the killing? What makes Robert Downey Jr comes to the police station in the last scene? What makes the buddy policeman appears in the abandoned house? Why Halle Berry can be back in the streets merely a year after killing her husband?
