Review of Gothika (2003) by Manio - — 07 Aug 2010
Gothika tells the story of a prison doctor named miranda grey who one rainy night is driving home from her job at the prison the road closed but which she goes to a bridge to her house safer than the usual way to her home but even though th other way is closed she goes passed the bridge's tunnel and sees a young woman who is covered up with bloody scracthes and then has fire coming out of her mouth and gives it dr. grey then dr. grey wakes up and ends up at the prison she was at earlier in the film in which during the beginning she is talking to a prisoner who claims that she was raped but dr grey started talking about her father which the female prisoner doesnt want to talk about that at all then after that while dr. grey (now a prisoner) is being interviewed by dr. pete graham who tries to believe her then later on in the film they show that she murders her husband Dr. douglas grey which later on we all find out that douglas grey before he was murdered him and a small town cop murdered killed and raped young women which the rest of the film I dont want to spoil at all but I must gothika is a great horror film hidden gem that I surely desreved a highly recommended because even though its like a twist horror film during the middle and a little bit mix of modern alfred hitchcock tradition highly recommended for any horror fan when the film had opened on the november 21st 2003-november 23rd 2003 weekend the film had opened at #2 because of the mike meyers family comedy film cat in the hat which opened at #1 that weekend.
