Review of Gosford Park (2001) by Ed Ryan — 15 Jun 2008

This movie was beautiful on so many levels. The classic Altman style, an intricate script, great actors pitching in to make this a truly large ensemble production. A nice shift for the murder mystery genre to also become a forum for examining class and the world of those "below stairs.

" One warning: those who were expecting a classic whodunit will be sorely disappointed. This film turns the whodunit on its head and kinda laughs at all of us Agatha Christie readers who took the world of the servants for granted.

I appreciated the new perspective - I know many others will either fall asleep or be very sore about the bait and switch.
