Review of Gosford Park (2001) by Lui L — 21 Sep 2009
I expected there would be a very suspense and exciting development of the film after the murder takes place. I expected there would be lots of conversation between the detective and the suspects in the house.
When I noticed the name "Charlie Chan" was mentioned lots of time after the murder took place, I expected this would be an excellent detective movie. However, I found myself feeling empty after finish watching it.
There is nearly no interrogations, no investigation in the second half. The answer just seems to be flown out from a few dialogue nearly the very end of the film. Very disappointing as the build up in the first half of the movie is so great that it makes nearly everyone seemed to be the suspects: it revealed their difficulties gradually and made their difficulties seemed can be their strong motive.
I expected when the police arrived it would be great to watch. Yet, the movie didn't turn out in that way. I don't say the movie is bad or not worth watching, actually it is quite good and the plot twist is pretty well done.
However, it just didn't satisfy my expectation.
