Review of Goosebumps (2015) by Dylan N — 28 Jan 2016
Wow. I never would thought, in a million years, that this movie would be, not only tolerable, but downright fun.
Rather than go for cheap scares, like you'd expect, we get a bit more of the "Scooby Doo" approach. Everything is so cheesy and over the top but, thanks to some Dreamworks writers and Jack Black's adlibbing, we end up with a flick that is, not only surprising entertaining, but even HILARIOUS at times.
As an old school Goosebumps fan, my only legitimate gripe is how FEW references and characters from the book series we actually get to see. Oh well, that's what the sequels are for, right?
