Review of Goosebumps (2015) by Danburrito — 11 Mar 2016
Goosebumps is a fast-paced, funny and surprisingly heartfelt adaptation of RL Stine's popular books. Playing out just like an actual Goosebumps book, the film may be too cgi-heavy for some, but in spite of this, fans should enjoy it.
Jack Black was very good as RL Stine, but he was even better as Slappy the Dummy. He really did make a great villain. Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush and Ryan Lee gave solid performances too. There was plenty of humour that both kids and their parents could enjoy, with some interesting characters and pretty good visuals to boot.
In short, Goosebumps is a nostalgic treat for fans of the series and should win over new fans too. 8/10.
