First, what an incredible experience shooting this movie. While Jonathan deflects my gratitude, he was why I got an audition, and as the cliche goes...well, you know.

Speaking of cliches, I'd be lying if this movie wasn't one itself, but that's what makes it a worthy sequel. Like the first, there is no pretense. No one is aiming for an Oscar. You want some good on ice shots, vulgarity, and fights? You got it in batches.

There are some real winner scenes outside of the rink, especially with Doug's new boss. Some were not really necessary to advance the plot. Elisha Cuthbert doesn't add too much to the film, and with some insider knowledge, without her scenes we would be treated to more of what matters - the hockey players.

I don't say this because Jon is my friend, or that Nate is the other goalie of record, but they steal scenes like DeNiro robs banks. Beauty one liners from Belchior, and Petrov with some great physical comedy. The Russians (Karl and George) are vicious to Marco as expected, and Anders Cain (Wyatt Russel - who did most of his on ice performance to boot) was a solid villain. Ross the Boss (Liev Schreiber) is worth every piece of film he's on too. And of course there is Doug (Seann William Scott)...we don't have a movie without his dim but loveable enforcer, and dim and loveable he is.

I don't want to write a novel, but Last of the Enforcers does the legacy of Doug Glatt (inspired by Douglas Smith) justice in every way. If you liked Goon, you will hopefully walk away from the sequel feeling the same way. If you haven't seen it yet, go. It's only in theaters up in Canada for now, but hopefully a wider release happens if we support it here in the Great White North.

Cheers to the #goonsquad. We're all visible in one scene or another fellas. We made sure the hockey looked good, and obviously that matters. I mean, if they pulled some Sudden Death bullshit, we'd be ostracized.
