Review of Goon (2012) by Kip C — 11 Jul 2012

I find it genuinely chilling this movie seems to find an enthusiastic audience. Having heard the nice buzz, and intrigued by the premise, I gave this thing an optimistic shot, only to watch one joke after another miss its mark, invariably due to the laziness of the writing.

A script that hopes to "grab" you in its opening scene with a line like, "You look like Stevie Wonder on steroids" spoken to a black man with corn rows, has nothing good up its sleeve.

If this movie were a person, it would be a weary smartass bored with his won schtick but hellbent on ruining your day.
