Goon is kind of a hidden gem when it comes to sports movies. Not many people have seen it and it did not get much advertisement time but it should have. Sean William Scotts last sports movie revolved around tennis and it was horrible, so his second shot at the genre I did not think had much promise.
The film did start out a little slow and had one short area where it really got boring BUT it picked up and took off and for the second half it became an amazing sports film and it had me on the edge of my seat, literally.
Seans character was a super nice, caring guy who was good at fighting and it made for a very likable guy that was a joy to watch. The other cast of characters was great to and provided great comic relief and fun moments.
If you are a fan of sports movies at all, don't let the actors or title scare you off, it really does have a true sports movie aspect to it just like any other of its type out there.
