Review of Goon (2012) by Ian H — 14 Jul 2013
Goddamnit it's so refreshing to see a sports comedy that isn't really a sports comedy. While it's definitely the best hockey flick since the Mighty Ducks (ok, that's my own personal love of MD, so we can say it's the best since Slap Shot if that is more appropriate for hockey film aficionados), it does it with way more heart than you would really expect.
Or maybe I just ID. Seeing a film about how hard it is to find something you're good at and then having to justify that that's what you do to everyone you know, well, yeah. Sold. And sold more so via Seann William Scott's fucking beautiful portrayal of a simpleton who's more on the level than anyone else in the film.
Hell yes.
