Review of Goon (2012) by Sarfaraz A — 08 Jul 2012
Goon stars Sean William Scott as Dough (The Thug) Glatt an enforcer for ice-hockey, he previously worked as bouncer for a club, but soon the destiny brought him overnight fame when he (while) watching ice-hockey game with his friend, beat the s*** out of one player who climbed out to spectators hall to beat a mocking fan. I see Sean going really good in this movie, and I've learned through this movie that he simply is a good actor. Dough is dimwitted and he is nice guy, but his job always puts him in situations to make him look extremely bad, but he knows where he is going with that. He is yet to settle score with veteran enforcer and Doug's idol Ross "The Boss" Rhea (Liev Schreiber), the whole town is looking up to this epic game of bashing.
It is brilliant entertainment, full of blood-violence (as you should know about ice-hockey games) but it's not the violence you probably need to skip this movie, no never. This is fun movie, and it deserves to be watched for the sake 'entertainment', 'comedy' and 'fun sports'. The movie is based on Goon: The True Story of an Unlikely Journey Into Minor League Hockey by Adam Frattasio and Doug Smith. The real Doug Smith, also an enforcer, is seen in the credit cookies.
