If you liked "Goon" it is REALLY, REALLY well worth seeing the Canadian Documentary "Les Chiefs" (2004), which is almost a dark mirror to this film.
Goon is as relentlessly funny as it is bloody. There are some poignant moments as well concerning identity, sacrifice and aging. It avoids exploring in depth the desperation it hints at, but it is a comedy after all and not too dark despite the violence.
