Goon is a film that definitely has a heart and is driven by a heart full performance from Sean William Scott. The first half of the movie is not about Ice Hockey, but it is more about fighting. I never knew that Ice Hockey was such a violent sport. However the vulgar comedy in the film can sometimes be a distraction. The film has a good supporting cast that includes Liev Schreiber, Marc-Andre Grondin, Alison Pill. But Eugene Levy is untapped and Jay Baruchel was really horrible.
The second half of the movie is really great because then only they start working as a team. There is a scene where Sean saves a goal by taking a hit on his mouth, that scene and the scene following it is great. But the film has a slightly disappointing climax, but it is overwhelmed by a great performance from William Scott.
