Review of Goon (2012) by Kevin R — 19 Dec 2012
Gay porn hard.
Doug Glatt didn't fit in well with his brainy family. He didn't go to a major college and receive a significant degree; instead, he was given the gift of brawn. He works as a bouncer and security guard because few are better at knocking people out than him. One inauspicious day while watching a minor league hockey team he is discovered and given a chance to play. He is quickly recognized for his skill sets and moved to minor league hockey to help develop and protect a high level, but selfish, prospect.
"Your mother's pussy is so tight. No way a baby came out of there. You were adopted.".
Michael Dowse, director of Fubar, Fubar: Balls to the Wall, Take Me Home Tonight, and the upcoming The 'F' Word, delivers The Goon. I actually thoroughly enjoyed the storyline for this film and felt it wasn't the straightforward sports picture. The script was very entertaining and the acting was excellent. The cast includes Seann William Scott, Jay Baruchel, Alison Pill, Live Schreiber, Eugene Levy, and Kim Coates.
"You know cows only meow when people are around.".
I am a fan of Magnet Films and remember them advertising this film heavily not too long ago so I decided to give this picture a shot. I found the film fairly funny and the character development better than I anticipated. It is definitely not your standard sports movie and is somewhat of a cross between The Waterboy and Remember the Titans. It may not be as good as either film but it is definitely entertaining.
"Everybody loves a soldier until they come home and stop fighting.".
Grade: B.
