Review of Goon (2012) by Brad C — 17 Jul 2017
I love this film!
Seann William Scott plays Doug Glatt, the nicest guy you'll ever fight and he's absolutely hilarious! He gladly takes, and dishes out, the punishment for his beloved team and his friends and still manages to say sorry as he does it. It's easily his best role since his most famous character Steve Stifler...maybe even better.
Liev Schrieber is great as Ross "The Boss" Rhea, the opposing enforcer and Doug's hero.
Jay Barachel is also hilarious as the foul mouthed Pat, Doug's best friend and I've hockey superfan.
Alison Pill as Eva, the object of Doug's affections, is so damn cute it's painful, even if she is a bad girlfriend as she repeatedly states throughout the film.
Hilarious sports comedy that does for ice hockey what The Longest Yard did for Gridiron and Major League did for Baseball, which is make you laugh yourself silly and ultimately care about the outcome of the characters and the team they play for.
